GENERAL INFORMATION
CONFERENCE REGISTRATION ON-LINE FOR 2005
The conference committee for The Third International Congress of IEDTA requests that all conference registration be made via this website.
UCLA Conference Services is providing this encrypted, secure, user-friendly site that allows you to register for the conference and the conference housing on-line.
Attendees can register for the conference by clicking on the Conference
Registration button and pay securely on-line.
In addition, conference attendees may reserve additional days in Los Angeles,
with UCLA extending the special conference housing rate from Sunday, September
4, 2005 through Monday, September 12, 2005
As outlined in the program, registration fees for conference attendees include
the conference program, all program materials, Conference Proceedings, daily
refreshment breaks, Friday evening light reception, and the Saturday evening
IEDTA Awards Banquet in the Grand Horizon Ballroom.
The registration confirmation form must be presented in person to claim registration
materials.
Registration for guests or accompanying persons (non-meeting) to attend the
Saturday evening IEDTA Awards Banquet will be provided on the website as
well as on-site. The cost will be $50.00 per guest.
CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS
Each registered attendee will receive the Conference Proceedings.
NO RECORDING AT THE CONFERENCE
No audio-visual recording of any kind will be allowed.
ACCOMPANYING PERSONS AND GUESTS AT SATURDAY AWARDS BANQUET
All guests, accompanying persons, and attendees at the Saturday evening IEDTA Awards Banquet Saturday evening must be registered through the Conference Registration Form by the September 7 deadline, or through faxed registration, or on-site registration. Name badges must be shown for entry.
The cost for a guest banquet ticket is $50.00.

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY FOR CONFERENCE REGISTRATION
70% refund if written notification is received by June 9, 2005.
50% refund if written notification is received by July 9, 2005.
No conference registration refund after July 9, 2005.
Notification to cancel must be received in writing at the UCLA Conference Services address or sent via email to kboles@ha.ucla.edu by 5:00pm Pacific Standard Time on the dates above in order to qualify for a refund.
CONFERENCE REGISTRATION and NAME BADGES REQUIRED FOR ALL FUNCTIONS
All conference participants and their guests must register. Name badges will be issued and must be worn to all conference events and meal functions. No one will be admitted to a meeting or function without a name badge.
All registration materials, including name badges, will be available at the Registration Desk upon your arrival, beginning Friday, September 9, 2005, at 7:45am. If you lose or misplace your name badge, please contact the conference registration desk immediately.
PARKING INFORMATION
The Sunset Village Parking Garage is located directly underneath the Covel Commons building, site of the conference.
Parking permits in the Sunset Village Parking Garage are valid for a 24-hour period from 7:00am to 6:59am. Please note that on any day, including the final day of stay, a permit is required if the vehicle is in the parking garage after 7:00am.
Place the permit on the inside of the windshield above the vehicle’s steering wheel, with the date clearly visible to the outside.
Parking permits may be purchased at the IEDTA Registration Desk during the hours it is open.
Registration Desk Hours:
- Thursday, September 8, 4:00pm-7:00pm
- Friday, September 9, 7:30am-5:00pm
- Saturday, September 10, 7:30am-5:00pm
- Sunday, September 11, 7:30am-2:00pm
At other times parking permits may be purchased from the Sunset Village Front Desk 24-hours a day.
Thirty-minute courtesy parking is provided on the Sunset Village Parking Garage Level 1. This period of time is provided to allow a guest to purchase a valid parking permit. The guest will then promptly move the vehicle to a regular parking space. Note: Do not park in any space labeled “Blue Permit Only” or “X Permit Only” or “Handicapped”.
Commuters may also purchase daily parking permits at various parking kiosks on campus. Visit the UCLA website for maps and parking kiosk locations.
SPECIAL ASSISTANCE
IEDTA will be happy to assist you with any special physical or dietary needs. Please specify your needs on the appropriate section of the registration form.
VENUE
The University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) has been chosen as the site for The Third International Congress of IEDTA 2005. To view the many offerings of the campus, including maps, directories, additional information, and other web links, please go to the UCLA website at www.ucla.edu and follow the prompts.
Conference Meeting Rooms
You may view the conference location in Sunset Village’s Covel Commons through the UCLA Conference Services website at www.conferences.ucla.edu. On this site you may view the meeting space and sleeping accommodations. In addition, you will see maps of this particular area of campus, as well as driving directions.
Dining
Guests dine in spacious, beautifully designed residential restaurants with panoramic views of the campus. Meals are “all you care to eat” and feature market-style self-serve dining. You may also view the dining facilities and menu items for the days of the conference at our dining website at www.dining.ucla.edu.
Recreation
Guests staying in our accommodations may enjoy, at no additional cost, a variety of activities at the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center with its park-like setting, outdoor pools, and tennis courts. Also available is the John Wooden Center, complete with fitness and weight training equipment, a rock climbing wall, basketball, volleyball, and racquetball, handball, and squash courts.
Cultural Points of Interest
UCLA has numerous points of interest right on campus and guests may enjoy many cultural sites, including the Armand Hammer Museum of Art, the Fowler Museum of Cultural History, The Murphy Sculpture Garden, and the Powell Library.
Bruin On-Campus and On-line Shopping
The Ackerman Union has the UCLA Store that features official “Bruin” football and other sports clothing, gifts, and souvenirs. Those wishing to shop on-line at the UCLA Store prior to attending the conference may view merchandise at the store’s website: www.uclastore.com.
LOCATION
UCLA campus is located on the west side of Los Angeles, adjacent to Westwood Village where visitors will find a variety of interesting restaurants, shops, and movie theaters. The campus is approximately 12 miles from the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and a short drive to some of Southern California’s most popular beaches. Local shopping and entertainment areas include Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Santa Monica, Century City, and Hollywood. The J. Paul Getty Museum and Universal Studios are just a few of the nearby attractions.
TRANSPORTATION
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is approximately 12 miles from the UCLA campus. Driving time is approximately 25 minutes, or longer, depending on traffic.

Los Angeles is on Pacific Standard Time (United States West Coast), 3 hours behind Eastern Standard Time (United States East Coast), 8 hours behind the U.K., and 9 hours behind Western Europe.
INSURANCE
Neither the local organizer nor UCLA can accept responsibility for accidents that could occur. Attendees are encouraged to obtain travel insurance (medical, personal accident, and luggage) in their home country prior to departure.
CURRENCY
Only U.S. dollars will be accepted.
CREDIT CARDS
The only credit cards accepted for Conference Registration and Housing Reservations are Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, and American Express.
PASSPORTS AND VISAS - TRAVEL WARNING
Foreign citizens must generally have a visa issued by the United States Department of State. Although citizens from some countries may be exempt from this requirement, these regulations are likely to change at any time. We recommend that you contact the American Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence.
ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES
Electricity is 110 volts. American appliances use a flat 2-prong plug. Other appliances may require a travel adaptor.
